ep 9: living with grief With Al Cal

Ffion and Gwen are joined by fellow welsh international and friend, Alex Callender. This year hasn’t been the easiest for Alex after her mum sadly lost her battle against Cancer after fighting for many years. Just 2 months later, Alex not only returned to playing the sport she loves, but did so in the form of her life, winning a player of the match award in the final game against Italy.

Alex talks openly about how difficult some of the last year has been for her and her family. But expresses how much she has learnt from her Mum, and how much she has learned to take each day as it comes, enjoy the little things and take time to be upset and grieve.

Alex is a true inspiration to everyone that has the privilege of knowing her, she never takes life too seriously and is always laughing. We are in awe of how she has carried herself over these last few months and how you can see in everything that she does that all she wants is to make her mam proud.

Never take any of your loved ones for granted. If there is anything to take from this episode, it is to hug everyone just that little bit tighter.

To the fabulous Don Cal.
